SR1Director of FinanceSR1 ThinkCenter — Ridgeland, MS 39157 www.SR1Tech.org and www.SR1Ag.orgOn-Site | Full-Time | $70,000 – $95,000About SR1SR1 is a mission-driven organization built at the intersection of nonprofit impact and for-profit innovation. From our ThinkCenter in Ridgeland, Mississippi, we develop programs, products, and partnerships that move communities, industries, and people forward. We operate by a simple principle: Who Not How. We find the right Whos — capable, trustworthy leaders — hand them the vision, and give them the room to deliver the details. We do not micromanage. We hire well, set the bar, and run hard together.About the RoleThe Director of Finance is the financial architect of SR1's next chapter. You will design, build, and own the financial systems, controls, reporting, and strategy that allow a hybrid nonprofit and for-profit organization to scale with discipline and clarity. We are not looking for someone who needs the playbook handed to them. We are looking for the Who — the leader who walks in ready to install the structure SR1 needs to operate like a great organization from day one, and who will keep raising the bar from there.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild the finance function: Stand up and operate accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, compliance, and audit readiness across the organization.Lead hybrid-sector strategy: Manage financial operations for both nonprofit (501(c)(3), grant accounting, restricted funds, donor and funder reporting) and for-profit (P&L, revenue operations, vendor and contractor management) entities.Establish controls and policies: Design the chart of accounts, financial policy manual, approval workflows, and internal controls that scale with the organization.Be the CEO's financial partner: Deliver board-ready monthly reporting, decision support, scenario modeling, and capital planning.Run the back office: Oversee banking, payroll, AP/AR, tax filings (Form 990 and corporate), insurance, and external audit relationships.Build the team: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-trust finance team as SR1 grows.Stand up the retirement plan: Design, select, and roll out an employee retirement program (401(k), 403(b), SIMPLE IRA, or comparable). Manage the provider relationship, compliance, employer match strategy, and employee education.Partner on fundraising: Serve as the financial backbone of SR1's fundraising engine — build funder-ready financials, grant budgets, use-of-funds narratives, restricted fund tracking, donor and grantor reporting, and capital campaign or investor models for the for-profit side.Build and steward reserves: Develop and execute an operating reserve strategy (target: 3–6 months of operating expenses), establish a board-approved reserve policy, manage cash placement and short-term investments, and report reserve health to leadership and the board.Build the team: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-trust finance team as SR1 growsTranslate the numbers: Turn financials into plain language so program leaders, board members, and partners can make fast, confident decisions. What You BringRequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.7+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership of a finance function or team.Demonstrated experience in both nonprofit and for-profit environments — you know how to run a 501(c)(3) and an LLC or C-Corp side by side.Working knowledge of GAAP, FASB nonprofit standards (ASC 958), grant compliance, and corporate tax.Proven leadership skills — you have hired, coached, and built people, not just spreadsheets.Strong command of QuickBooks (or comparable accounting software), Excel, and modern financial reporting tools.Strongly PreferredCPA, CMA, or MBA.Experience standing up a finance function from scratch — "zero to one" builder mindset. Background in workforce development, education, technology, community impact, or social enterprise.Direct experience with audits, board reporting, and grant management.Familiarity with the Mississippi and broader Southeast funding and partnership ecosystem. What Success Looks Like in Year OneClean, audit-ready books and a board-ready monthly reporting package.A documented chart of accounts, financial policy manual, and internal control framework.Twelve-month rolling cash flow visibility and an operating budget the team actually uses.Trusted advisor relationship with the CEO, board, and program leaders.A finance team and tech stack ready for SR1's next stage of growth.Who You AreA builder. You like white space and writing the playbook — not inheriting one.A leader who owns outcomes, not just tasks.Equally at home in a board meeting and a back-office reconciliation.Mission-driven without losing financial rigor.A Who — someone who takes the vision and runs.Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $70,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience and credentials.Full benefits package.On-site role at SR1 ThinkCenter, Ridgeland, MS 39157.A seat at the table shaping SR1's next decade of impact. How to ApplySend your résumé and a brief note about why you are the Who SR1 is looking for to info@sr1tech.org.
