Registered Nurse - Hematology Oncology/Clinical Research

The Hematology Oncology/Clinical Research Registered Nurse serves as a Research Coordinator and require the ability to assess and manage clinical situations and strategic planning to manage study-participants including assessment of unexpected toxicity, coordination of care with primary and surgical care-givers, and in performance of necessary protocol related screenings, scheduled and acute evaluations as required for clinical care.The Hematology Oncology/Clinical Research RN executes position responsibilities that demonstrate proficiency in the holistic approach to the management of complex patient care and critical thinking in the conduct of clinical research.Major duties/functions include, but are not limited to:Assessing individuals to determine their qualification for inclusion in research protocols.Responsible for understanding the regulatory guidelines that guide the conduct of research, assessing and acting independently within scope in response to research related issues.Communicating effectively with patients, their significant others, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members involved in research.Screening patients for inclusion in studies, documenting this assessment, providing information relevant to the study, and obtaining informed consent.Assist in directing the provision of research education and regulatory compliance assessment for each study and patient record, and they may also engage in quality improvement for study recruitment protocol.Leads initiatives for expanding best techniques to identify and apply patient preferences to shared care delivery decisions in the immediate practice settings.Maintains accurate study documentation and use of study-related and approved data management systems.Collaborates with the site Principal Investigator (Physician) and study co-investigators, Pathology, Interventional Radiology and Surgeons specializing in the treatment of Hematology Oncology patients, and other on-site clinical staff.Demonstrates critical thinking with efficiency and accuracy in assessing and managing situations.Improves Veteran/patient driven care by optimizing the patient experience, satisfaction and/or safety for the immediate practice setting.Others duties as assigned by Facility, Department, and/or Agency.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Full-time; 8:00am-4:30pmTelework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
