PainterUnder general supervision, the Painter cleans, prepares, and paints parts using specified procedures and techniques. Inspects incoming parts for flaws or lack of finish and notifies supervisor of exceptions.Essential Duties, Knowledge and SkillsPerforms basic metal preparation for specified paint applicationsAbility to work independently with supervision (self-starter/self-motivated)Under direct supervision, applies primer to parts and paint in accordance with AMSI and/or customer specifications and requirementsAssists in organizing and cleaning storage areas to maintain efficient operationRead and understand basic drawings and schematicsAssist higher level Painters in the preparation and painting processProvide input on quality, cost, and production issuesAssist in the detection of defective material, unusual conditions, and report to supervisorAbility to explain the location, use, and definition of MSDSAccurate and timely completion of area specific documentationAbility to demonstrate safe crane operation and rigging fundamentals under direct supervisionEducation: High school diploma or equivalent. Military, trade school or community college coursework in hydraulic-mechanical assembly, repair, and troubleshooting desired.Physical Requirements: This position requires a high level of physical flexibility, strength, and stamina, including the ability to: see and assess drawings, photos, and written instructions; audibly hear verbal instructions and mechanical signals (forklifts, cranes, machine alarms, etc.); and speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.Have full range of body movement: head, neck, shoulders; lift arms overhead; work overhead; reach, lift, push/pull, walk, climb, kneel, bend; good dexterity and range of movement in fingers, hands and wrists.Sit for at least three hours.Stand on feet for at least three hours.Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.Maintain confidence and balance while working on ladders up to 12 feet tall.At Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
