Chief of Schools Officer

The Chief of Schools Officer serves as the primary supervisor and coach for a cohort of K-12 building-level principals. This role is responsible for ensuring system coherence, ensuring that the district's strategic goals and curriculum standards are executed with high fidelity across all buildings. Qualifications:Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field. Doctorate preferredValid Pennsylvania administrative certification required - K-12 Principal required and/or Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility preferred.5-7 years of successful experience as a Building Principal or District Level AdministratorProven track record of improving student achievement data and school performanceMastery of the Pennsylvania Standards Aligned System (SAS)Deep experience with Multi-tiered system support (MTSS)Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills for managing adult performance and addressing complex organizational issuesExperience in a public urban school setting preferredBilingual and Biliterate in English/Spanish preferred.Duties and responsibilities:Instructional Coaching: Provide ongoing professional development and coaching for school leaders in instructional leadership, staff management, and school culture to enhance leadership practice and student achievement.Management Support: Coach Principals in effective building-level hiring practices and staff evaluation techniques.Continuous Improvement: Cultivate instructional leaders to guide systematic improvement and increase desired outcomes through rigorous problem-solving and data-driven decisions.Quality Assurance: Conduct regular "Instructional Rounds" and learning walks with principals and assistant principals to observe and provide feedback on classroom teaching.Curriculum Fidelity: In partnership with the Teaching and Learning Department, ensure literacy and math interventions are implemented consistently across all assigned buildings.Instructional Outcomes: Ensure that building leaders guide school communities toward outcomes that directly impact student achievement and instructional practices.Performance Evaluation: Directly evaluate and rate principals using the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) frameworks.Academic Access: Identify and remove administrative barriers to ensure all qualified students have access to Advanced, Honors, AP, and Gifted programming.Data Analysis: Analyze district and state data platforms (e.g., PSSA/Keystone scores and attendance) to pinpoint and eliminate performance deficits.Root Cause Analysis: Apply rigorous Root Cause Analysis to disaggregated student data to address achievement and opportunity gaps.School Improvement Plans (SIPs): Assist principals in writing and executing measurable SIPs, with a focus on creating and managing high-performing systems that provide educational opportunities for all students.Systemic Discipline Management: In partnership with the Student Services Department, monitor discipline data and implement effective alternatives to exclusionary discipline to maximize time spent in the classroom.Leadership Development: Develop and lead an inspiring principal's program to cultivate a pipeline of high-performing leaders.Engage in relevant professional development to enhance performance and support the building of leadersPerforms such other duties as requested/assigned by direct supervisor.Schedule and Salary 12 month position $185,000 - $200,000 (prorate accordingly)
