OverviewThe Thomas Jefferson Foundation–Donor Relations and Engagement Officer supports Monticello's donor relations and membership strategies by managing day-to-day stewardship tactics and communications for leadership giving groups, members, and other stakeholders. Working with the Director of Donor Relations & Engagement, this role ensures that donor and member experiences are meaningful, consistent, and well-coordinated across channels and departments.The Donor Relations and Engagement Officer plays a critical role in implementing stewardship and engagement initiatives that deepen relationships, increase retention, and grow philanthropic support. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across the foundation to deliver high-quality donor, member, and guest experiences.Donor Relations and Engagement OfficerPurpose: to support Monticello's donor relations and membership strategies by managing day-to-day stewardship tactics and communications for leadership giving groups, members, and other stakeholders. Working with the Director of Donor Relations & Engagement, this role ensures that donor and member experiences are meaningful, consistent, and well-coordinated across channels and departments.ResponsibilitiesMembership ProgramSupport the implementation and ongoing operations of Monticello's membership program.Manage member communications, including welcome packets, renewal notices, upgrades, and benefits information.Coordinate fulfillment of membership benefits and assist with on-site member experience at public programs and events.Track and report on membership metrics such as acquisition, renewal, upgrades, and benefits usage, providing insights to inform strategy.Serve as a point of contact for member inquiries, ensuring timely and high-quality customer service.Ensure member-centric messaging is consistently reflected across communications and experiences. Work closely with the Marketing team to effectively promote Membership plan to a broad audience.Donor Relations & StewardshipContribute to cross-departmental initiatives that enhance donor experience and support Monticello's mission and goals.Execute stewardship initiatives for leadership, major, and planned giving donors, including the Monticello Cabinet, Summit, and Portico Society.Work with the Annual Giving and Operations Manager to draft and manage donor-facing communications, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.In conjunction with the Development Database Coordinator, maintain donor records and stewardship plans in Raiser's Edge, tracking engagement activities, actions, event attendance, and benefit fulfillment.Collaborate with Marketing to ensure donor-centric messaging across audiences and support storytelling through donor stories, testimonials, and impact examples.Event & Program SupportSupport the Program & Events Committee, which serves as the hub for all programs and events across the foundation and contribute to the global calendar.Coordinate details for donor events, public programs, and other donor activities, including invitations, RSVPs, guest communications, ticketing, promotions, briefing materials, and follow-up. Assist with seating charts, event check-in, donor hospitality, and on-site logistics.Coordinate all logistics related to guest speakers, scholars, authors, and experts participating in Monticello's public programs and donor events.Work with Marketing to write program descriptions and submit proper forms for ticketing and promotions.Attend programs and events as required, including some evenings and weekends.Administrative & Operational SupportPrepare reports, briefing materials, and presentations related to donor relations, membership, and engagement initiatives.Manage project timelines and ensure deliverables remain on schedule.Support budgeting and expense tracking for donor relations and membership activities.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesWillingness to learn specific information about Thomas Jefferson and Monticello, including through Monticello's Guide Training to learn how to communicate difficult history as well as the Foundation's educational mission to donors and members.Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding of the ethical principles associated with working in development, and to use discretion in interactions with members of the Monticello community.Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies including donors and volunteers.Proven ability to work effectively with honesty and transparency in a collaborative, multi-level team environment with a high degree of collegiality.Strong written, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.Computer proficiency and skill in the use of Microsoft Office is required, and experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge or other donor database is highly preferred.Education And ExperienceBachelor's Degree required.2-3 years of experience in donor relations, membership, fundraising, events, or other non-profit engagement work.Physical Demands and Work ConsiderationsMust have a valid Driver's License with personal vehicle and ability and willingness to travel as needed, including for frequent weekend and evening commitments.Monticello is located on a mountaintop; walking on steep inclines, and uneven, rocky ground is required.BenefitsExcellent benefits package (including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement savings plan plus 6% match, life insurance, and more!).Fitness club membership discount.Discount in the Monticello Café, gift shop, and Monticello online catalog.Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – free for employee and dependents.$500 employee referral bonus.Exciting quarterly social events for all employees.If you believe this opportunity is the right fit for you, we encourage you to apply!J-18808-Ljbffr
