Equipment Operator I (Koele Park Maintenance)

Job DescriptionUnder limited supervision, operates tractors (and attached equipment), backhoe, bobcat, mini-excavator, loaders, tractors, carry-all, etc. Makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. Submits necessary reports. May direct assigned employees.Compensation:$18.94/hour (non-exempt)This is a Union position with 1 opening.Reporting Relationship:Reports to: Lead Landscape Worker, Landscaping Supervisor, and Landscaping ManagerQuality Standards:Conduct individual and business affairs in highest ethical and legal fashion.Establish and contribute to a supportive, creative, enthusiastic, and cooperative working environment for all.Build strong communication links with supervisors, peers, and employees.Continuously strive for excellence in the workplace, the Company environment, and as a Company representative.Comply with all Company policies and standards.Conducts business in alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Pūlama Lāna'i.ResponsibilitiesEssential DutiesOperates riding mowers in the city and recreational areas.Operates Kubota tractor, generally utilizing it for mowing.At beginning of the day, checks level of oil; fuel; and any of the necessary fluids and brings them to proper level.Performs walk around inspection of any other possible defects.At the end of each day, washes and lubricates equipmentPerforms a walk around inspection for any damage that may have occurred, or excessive wear that will need repair. Any findings will be reported to the Supervisor.Services and maintains equipment according to schedule.Performs duties with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees, and with proper care and protection of Company property.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsQualification/Requirements:Requires previous experience in operating riding mowers, tractors, and various small riding equipment.Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.Requires good verbal and written communication skills.Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.Ability to create effective working relationships with employees.Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.Required Work Cards/Certifications:Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review of Motor Vehicle RecordPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.The employee is required to operate objects, tools, or controls.The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by an employee in this classification.
