General Groundsperson

Job Description:This is a regular, full-time position with normal working hours. Number of months per year is 12. Occasionally may work additional hours to clear snow and ice from roads and sidewalks and perform weekend cleanup/setup for special Bellarmine functions. May be called in during emergencies. When working additional hours, will receive overtime pay as appropriate.Perform tasks as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor relating to plant beds, turf maintenance, athletics field preparation, trash, leaf and snow removal, etc.Visa sponsorship is not provided for this position.Requirements:Essential Responsibilities:Operate equipment necessary for maintaining the University grounds.Aid in keeping equipment clean and operable and maintain the shop area.Ensure the proper, safe and efficient use of materials, equipment, and vehicles belonging to the University Grounds Department.Perform snow removal under the direction of the Ground Supervisor.During periods when no grounds work can be performed, maintain and perform PM maintenance on Grounds equipment.Perform other duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor.Must be able to work and interact positively within a diverse, multi-cultural environment, and communicate with all members of the campus community in a professional and respectful manner.Must be able to work professionally both individually and in a team setting.Additional Information:Secondary Responsibilities:Be temporarily assigned to other Facilities Management areas as needed.Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:Knowledge of lawn maintenance equipment and ability to operate lawn mowers, string trimmers, etc. Applicant must possess a valid driver's license and have an MVR that passes the criteria set by our insurance carriers.Working ConditionsExposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and grounds maintenance equipment. Exposure to extreme weather conditions, allergens, plant poisons, and insects.Occasionally may need to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.Application Instructions:
