FlexSteel embodies teamwork with a focus on hiring top talent and developing employees.Under the direction of the Material Supervisor and Leads, the Material Handler loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Unload incoming shipments using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucksInspect deliveries for damage or discrepanciesVerify items against packing slips or purchase ordersRecord received inventory in the systemLabel and store materials in designated areasRotate stock (FIFO/LIFO systems)Ensure materials are stored safely and accessibleMaintain cleanliness and organization in storage areasTransport raw materials, parts, or finished goods within a facilitySupply materials to production lines or workstationsPick and stage items for outgoing shipmentsOperate forklifts, pallet jacks, or conveyor systemsReport on discrepancies or low stock levelsUse inventory management systems (e.g., WMS or ERP software)Tag, barcode, or otherwise identify inventoryPackage products for shipmentLabel and document outgoing shipmentsLoad trucks or containers safely and efficiently & coordinate with logisticsInspect and maintain material handling equipmentFollow safety protocols (e.g., lifting procedures, PPE)Report on unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctionsComply with OSHA or workplace safety standardsDocumentation and CommunicationFill out logs, reports, or digital formsCommunicate with supervisors or departments about material needsAssist with tracking and tracing of shipments or materialsOther duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function.Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.At least one (1) year of relevant experience in a forward-thinking manufacturing environment is preferred.Must have some knowledge of how to operate software programs like spreadsheets and word processing.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Must possess the ability to read and understand bills of materials and differentiate between parts that are similar in nature.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Must have the ability to work effectively with company personnel and customers.Must be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
