Paralegal
Job PurposeThe primary responsibility of the Paralegal is to support our litigation teams in various types of complex litigation, to understand the case fully and to drive process improvement and efficiency throughout all phases of litigation. This position will primarily support our Business Litigation, Intellectual Property & Technology, and Antirust practice groups.WHERE YOU WILL WORKThis role is designated for a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office per week to facilitate collaboration with key stakeholders and 2 remote days per week.Essential FunctionsAnalyze facts and data in complex cases.Detailed understanding of case issues and claims.Organize voluminous case materials, identify key documents and retrieve important work product.A detailed understanding and ability to learn database software programs used to organize materials.Document review and document organization for production purposes.Drafting privilege logs.Support depositions by creating witness kits with selected documents specific to each witness.Draft exhibit lists and coordinate joint exhibit list creation.Provide support to litigation team and trial and arbitrations.Facilitate deposition designations for trial.Coordinate with internal or external trial support services regarding trial logistics.Must have superior writing and analytical skills and resourcefulness.Tenacity, focus and diligence to complete work and facilitate team deadlines.Must maintain courteous and professional contact with internal and external clients and observe confidentiality of client mattersAdditional Useful ExperienceDrafting patent claim chartsInternational Trade Commission experienceFamiliarity with the practices of the US Patent and Trademark OfficeGeneral patent litigation experienceMarkman hearing support experienceCOMPETENCIESSelf-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Highly professional with a strong customer service orientation, commitment to meeting deadlines, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Strong professional, independent thinking skills with strength in problem solving and the ability to offer constructive opinions and creative solutions.A team player who motivates and educates other team members.Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.Knowledge And Skills RequiredFind creative solutions to unusual and difficult problems that present themselves in complex cases with high exposure.Coordinate team meetings and effective team communication and follow-up to facilitate defined roles for team members and furtherance of team efficiency.Maintain litigation calendar and communicate key dates to stakeholders and team members so that deadlines are met to ensure efficient use of support staff and adherence to case budget.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to deliver superior client service to internal and external clients.Exemplify and model professionalism in all aspects, with team members, colleagues, and other support departments.Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.Work independently and/or as part of a team.Appropriately handle stressful situations, exude professional behavior that sets a positive tone for a successful team dynamic.Attention to detail and proactive natureEducation And Experience RequirementsAssociates or bachelor’s degree in the Paralegal field, or bachelor’s degree with ABA Approved Paralegal certificate.At least five years of litigation experience preferred in the following or similar areas: antitrust, general business litigation, or patent litigation.PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITIONWork is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following during the workday:Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time (working at a computer)Ability to move/traverse about inside the office intermittently throughout the day (attend meetings, access file cabinets, obtain supplies from supply room, etc.)Operate computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, telephone, etc.Repetitive movement (i.e., heavy computer/keyboard use).Individual will interact regularly with others verbally, in-person, and via written communication.May require occasional light lifting (files, copy paper, etc.).In Addition To The Essential Functions Outlined Above Individual in this position will provide additional assistance and support as directed by his/her supervisor. Additional or overtime hours may be needed at times. Out of town travel for trial or other purposes may be necessary. This job description is subject to change at any time.The hourly pay rate for this position is $39.28 - $66.92 per hour, depending on experience. This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime.
