- The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of a full-time, non-exempt Water Maintenance Worker I to join the Water Resources Department.
- The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of responsible unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled work in maintenance and construction of water lines and fixtures, and asphalt and concrete repairs for the City's Water Resources Department.
- Participates in a work crew in digging and backfilling trenches, installing or removing water pipes and fixtures, and installing traffic safety devices.
- Works on a crew on the installation or removal of water taps and mains, water valve boxes, hydrants and associated fixtures; assists in repair and replacement of such fixtures; places pipes and fittings into excavated ditches; works on a crew that bores under roads to install pipes; installs meter boxes, valve vaults, or manholes.
- Must obtain a Class "C" Water Distribution Certification within 2 years of hire date.
