- Work involves operation of wastewater treatment facilities and equipment to insure compliance with NPDES permits.
- Class Characteristics:Operator in Training - Limited experience and training on Wastewater treatment.
- computer and SCADA equipment, chemical feeders, filters, electric motors, and lab equipmentRepairs, cleans, and maintains wastewater treatment equipmentReads meters gauges and dials, maintains a log of all readings, makes adjustments as needed to maintain proper treatment processCollects samples and performs standard tests to insure proper operation, maintains accurate records and reports of test results.
- Maintains plant grounds, Performs housekeeping duties, performs maintenance around the plant, reports the need for equipment repair, assist in repair of equipmentAttends classes required to maintain wastewater certificationResponds to emergency calls as needed, & may be placed on call to respond to emergenciesMay operate city vehicles to perform job dutiesPerforms other related duties as assigned.
- Supervisory Controls: Work is performed under supervision of the Wastewater Plant Manager and the lead operator.
