- The University Chaplain directs the University's spiritual life, performs religious and spiritual functions associated with beliefs and practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church as authorized, and provides spiritual and moral guidance and assistance to students and employees.
- The chaplain will bring energy and excitement to the work while interacting and cooperating at all levels on campus in order to minister effectively to the entire University community.
- The chaplain guides the campus ministry programs to enhance student development and leadership, partner with the Sligo Church pastoral staff to establish a strong sense of community across all campus constituencies.
- Promotes spirituality by coordinating worship activities; including the university's weekly Wednesday morning convocation, Friday evening worship services, and university Sabbath worship program; participates in student activities; instructs biblical studies; presents programs and services to student groups, staff, and faculty; engaging in interfaith, community, civic, educational, and recreational activities.
- Oversees the university food and basic needs pantry and supervises the pantry student employees.
