Responsibilities:
Nautilus Insurance Group is seeking and Underwriting Consultant, Light Brokerage.  This role can be located in our Scottsdale AZ headquarters, or remotely for a highly qualified candidate.  Our Light Brokerage team is growing - this dynamic group focuses on finding creative underwriting solutions for complex and hard to write risks. The Underwriting Consultant is responsible for developing a comprehensive knowledge of the company’s appetite in this product space and an industry awareness in relation to opportunities and threats; underwriting, including communicating appetite, rate and underwriting information to assigned agents; and supporting the underwriting process through training of new hires or through developing associates. Specifically, the Underwriting Consultant: <ul><li>Underwrites select risks in accordance with company guidelines for acceptability and rate.</li><li>Markets, builds, and strengthens relationships with key producers within agencies that can produce a flow of preferred business to meet targets.</li><li>Maintains profitable book of business including monitoring book for trends, profitability, and growth.</li><li>Assess agent performance based on profitability, growth, quality of submissions, bind ratios, and other key performance indicators. </li><li>Analyzes market conditions and provide suggestions for needed changes in forms, endorsements, and rates including opportunities for market or product expansion or enhancement.</li><li>Collaborates with Contract Bind production underwriting teams along with Light Brokerage teammates to ensure proper placement of a risk and communicate market/agent trends and issues between divisions.</li><li>Communicates product, rate, and form changes as appropriate with external customers.</li><li>Corresponds or consults with agents, brokers, and other interested persons to determine feasibility and marketability of new products to meet competition and increase sales.</li><li>Contributes to the development and maintenance of E-Guide, enhancements on web portal and other electronic products that may arise including notification of changes to internal and external customers.</li><li>Provides guidance and support to less experienced team members within the department.</li><li>Develops and implements, with the help of the Product Development team, new opportunities for product expansion to drive more profitable business to the portfolio</li><li>Reviews industry publications and monitors pending legislation and regulations to determine impact of new developments on company insurance products.</li><li>Proficient at creating manuscript policy language with the help of Forms and Legal teams.</li></ul>#LI-RS1#LI-Remote 

Qualifications:
<ul><li>10+ years experience underwriting casualty products, with at least 3+ years at a senior level required.</li><li>Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and leadership skills.</li><li>Good understanding of the E&S business environment.</li><li>The ability to effectively engage with leaders across the organization</li><li>Applicable knowledge of budgets, forecasting, and metrics.</li><li>Good decision-making skills and response to high-pressure situations.</li><li>Intermediate to Advanced experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and aptitude to learn new applications, as needed.</li><li>Critical thinking and problem solving skills.</li><li>Must be able to travel to visit agents and attend conventions as necessary.</li><li>Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 5+ years related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>CPCU, IIA or other insurance related classes recommended. </li></ul>
