SUMMARY: Supervise and implement processes, procedures, and maintain reporting to ensure the achievement of; on-time delivery, meeting estimated or below estimated costs, maintain high quality with minimal turnover. Develop long-term goals that formulate, plan, and implement new strategies that will improve designs, standardize CAD drafting and machine programming, lower costs of products fabricated, and improve lead-times on all design and fabrication orders. ESSENTIAL DAILY FUNCTIONS: <ul><li>Supervise design, mechanical engineering and fabrication.</li><li>Coordinate fabrication schedules and material demands with purchasing, design, fabrication, and assembly departments.</li><li>Establish inventory policies that minimize the amount of inventory needed to meet assembly, manufacturing, and service requirements.</li><li>Provide monthly reports on completed order labor and material costs of all design projects and fabrication orders.</li><li>Supervise the training and cross-training of dept. staff.</li><li>Supervise design and manufacturing schedules to ensure that delivery dates are met, and inventory of finished goods are maintained.</li><li>Maintain and report on file storage standards.</li><li>Other duties as assigned/required.</li></ul> General <ul><li>Maintain a productive departmental operation through daily written and verbal communication.</li><li>Develop, standardize and maintain all design and fabrication documentation.</li><li>Establish, prepare, implement, revise, and maintain department operation policies and procedures.</li><li>Ensure a safe working environment.</li><li>Create and maintain product specifications using CAD, Inventory, Fabrication and File Storage software.</li><li>Ensure that all manufacturing equipment, spares, and supplies, are maintained in good condition including the scheduling of periodic Preventative Maintenance.</li><li>Research and recommend additional or improvements on software, machinery and equipment. </li><li>Supervise the use of personnel, to ensure fulfillment of design and fabrication orders at their lowest feasible cost. </li><li>Provide support to other departments as required.</li><li>Create, maintain, and furnish necessary reporting on all related responsibilities.</li></ul> PLANNING AND REVIEW FUNCTIONS: <ul><li>Identify equipment requirements to support forecasted production requirements and obtain multiple competitive bids on all required production equipment.</li><li>Continuously improve client satisfaction through programs to reduce delinquencies, provide for on-time delivery, and meet customer quality and cost expectations. </li><li>Establish relationship with the client's contacts with respect to functions your departments are required to perform for each client/project. </li><li>Participate and contribute in the implementation of new manufacturing processes, product and systems technology, to meet the company's objectives.</li><li>Conduct regular written reviews on all personnel within your departments.</li><li>Conceive, research, plan, target, and control reductions in cost and product lead-times on existing and new products.</li><li>Establish and implement quality improvement programs.</li></ul> JOB PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT: <ul><li>Maintain an adequate work schedule that provides on-site supervision of staff during their scheduled work hours.</li><li>On-time completion of all orders/projects, job tasks and responsibilities.</li><li>Uphold and improve the quality and reliability of products fabricated, and design services provided.</li><li>Report on the percentage of on-time deliveries compared to their commitment dates.</li><li>Meet or exceed estimated profit margins based upon estimates provided.</li><li>Quality of supervision and on-time performance review of staff.</li><li>Ownership and follow through on responsibilities.</li><li>Prompt and professional response/resolution of client's issues.</li><li>Display of professional attire/conduct appropriate to the job's position and responsibilities.</li></ul> POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: <ul><li>Bachelor of Arts in Mechanical Engineering or CAD. Minor in Business Administration or a Certificate in Project Management a plus.</li><li>Minimum of 10 years' experience managing a; Design, CAD Drafting, and Manufacturing environments.</li><li>Working knowledge of computer automated design (CAD) software, preferably with SolidWorks and Inventor and Machine Programming (Sigmanest, Metalix, VisualMill) software.</li><li>Working knowledge of graphic art software; i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.</li></ul> All employment candidates must pass: a NON-DOT Drug screening, Criminal and Credit Background Check and a Driver License Check prior to employment.
