- Substation protection and control technician is responsible for assisting higher classifications in performing installation, maintenance, and testing of protective systems including instrument transformers, batteries, DC control circuitry, AC control circuitry, protective relays, communication systems (RTU), and all other duties related to substation protection.
- Protection system components include, but are not limited to, potential transformers, current transformers, DC control circuits, AC control circuits, substation batteries, circuit breaker components, protective relays, and communication systems (RTU).
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, analyzation, and troubleshooting of remote terminal units (RTU’s), network port switches, SCADA equipment, substation battery systems, transformer control circuits, voltage regulation relays and controls, breaker control circuits, and protective relays.
- Detailed knowledge of substation protection zones and relay functionality.
