- Employees in this class perform a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled manual labor tasks in the maintenance, and repair of streets.
- Work may involve asphalt patching; cleaning storm drains, catch basins, leaves and yard debris; flagging traffic; landscape duties such as trimming, weed eating and planting; and assisting in minor repair and maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
- Employees may work as back up in water and sewer and sanitation occasionally performing traffic control, digging, and other manual and semi-skilled tasks occasionally as needed for coverage.
- Cleans storm drains, ditches and catch basins using rakes, shovels and hands; may use bush ax and weed eater to clean ditches and right of ways; mows, trims, and performs landscapes tasks in right of ways; uses pitch fork to pick up debris; carries arm loads of debris to the truck and/or to debris piles deep in the right of ways; uses leaf vacuum machine to get up leaves.
- Drives small cab trucks to haul to and from work sites to transport equipment and supplies; operates asphalt roller; air hammer, and other light to medium unskilled equipment.
