- The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the reprocessing of all sterile and non-sterile materials, instruments, and equipment for surgery and other hospital units.
- The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for manual cleaning and decontamination; operating the mechanical washers and sonic units; testing autoclaves for efficiency and maintaining compliant records; The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician assists in the recall process as needed.
- As a certified technician, the technician will also assist in the eduation and training of other staff (e.g., new hires) with respect to quality assurance, performance improvement, and departmental compliance.
- Required: High school diploma or GED. Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course with field training or 1 year of experience as Sterile Processing Technician or Operating Technician.
- Preferred: 1 year as sterile processing technician with completion of formal sterile processing technician course.
