- Manhattan Star Academy, a member of the YAI Network, provides Elementary Education for students 3-21 years of age with intellectual developmental disabilities and learning delays, including children on the autism spectrum.
- Instructional activities integrate all the domains of child development, including physical development and health, and social/emotional development; communication, language, and literacy; cognition and knowledge of the world (math, science, social studies, the arts and technology).
- Oversees a classroom of school-aged children (ages 3 – 21) with brain-based disabilities and/or with other intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
- Prepares and appropriately documents annual academic goals for students and compiles quarterly progress reports; participates in Individualized Education Program (IEP) process including IEP meetings and team meetings, or legal hearings, when necessary and appropriate.
- Utilizes a multisensory approach incorporating art, music, and technology to design lessons to increase students’ literacy, numeracy, communication, social, and life skills.
