- Assume management responsibility for the administration of federal and state grants, including the Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnership Program, Emergency Shelter Grant, American Dream Downpayment Initiative, and Low-Income Housing Trust Funds to improve service and housing opportunities for low and moderate income families and neighborhoods.
- Conduct a variety of complex policy research projects including air quality, noise, transportation, housing and employment; prepare and convey appropriate code amendments and/or Master Plan amendments.
- Participate in community efforts to improve the provision of human service, affordable housing availability, and community development efforts as the City and Washoe County HOME consortium representative.
- Serve as staff on a variety of boards commissions, and committees; representing the City's interests in meetings with citizens, developers, sub-recipients, and others related to neighborhood revitalization efforts; provide technical assistance to boards and commissions on human services, affordable housing and Community Development efforts; represent the WCHC in any Truckee Meadows Regional Plan update process; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
- Serve as the liaison for the above mentioned programs with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; respond to inquiries from City departments, private citizens, the media, and others regarding affordable housing, and community and economic development programming and funding; interpret and explain City planning policies, ordinances, and codes as well as state and federal regulations; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
