- PurposeThe purpose of this classification if to perform professional and technical work in long range land use activities and current development planning as they relate to the administration of a variety of City planning programs.
- Work involves conducting research and preparing studies related to such items as land use, population, housing, economic bases, transportation systems, Historic Preservation, conservation and socio-economic conditions as they apply to growth management and the development and administration of short and long-range comprehensive planning programs.
- Minimum QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or a closely related field; supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving urban planning, local/state land use, zoning, site plan review, geographical information system operations, digital mapping, map design/interpretation, and personal computer operations.
- Assists in preparing urban design projects, drafting plans and preparing zoning and land use maps.
- Has thorough knowledge of urban design and zoning and the objectives, principles, and techniques of urban planning.
