- This position provides a mix of office and field work that will include visiting project sites during the scoping phase and attending preliminary field checks on-site to provide technical support for the development of the project during design.
- Highway Engineer 3: Professional engineering license is not required for this position.
- Registered Professional Engineers license in Indiana required; exception may be made for individuals with a bachelor's degree in engineering or a bachelor's degree in engineering and an Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification/Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification working towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana in a lower-level classification.
- Broad knowledge of planning, design, or construction of highway or transportation project features (such as roads, bridges, pavement, or traffic structures) in accordance with engineering design and construction standards, principles and methods.
- Working knowledge of Indiana Design Manual (IDM), Indiana Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (IMUTCD), INDOT standard specifications and standard drawings.
