- Under the supervision of the Director of District Services, assesses students referred to special education, reports results of assessment at Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings, determines if students qualify for special education services, assists in developing appropriate special education placements, service goals and educational strategies, and provides personal counseling services as deemed appropriate.
- Review special education referrals for completeness and accuracy, and as needed inform the principal and resource specialist of the need for additional information.
- Assess students referred to special education, write a collaborative report for the school psychologist and the Resource Specialist.
- Play a key role on the IEP team in deciding if students qualify for special education services based on qualifying criteria and, if so, guide the IEP team in the development of appropriate placement, goals and objectives for the service.
- Recommend the appropriateness of supplemental instructional materials, methodology, modality, which contribute to the implementation of the IEP.
