- Serves as the vascular access subject matter expert and assists in developing vascular access and IV therapy policies and protocols, based on current national standards of practice.
- The Vascular Access Educator is responsible for coordination of training, education, professional development, and competency assessment for Vascular Access Nurse Specialists, and fills staffing needs as identified by departmental leadership.
- Collaborates with Clinical Leadership to develop, evaluate, and implement standards of infusion and vascular access care /device planning and professional practice with attention to quality, service, cost effectiveness, comfort, safety, age specific implications, and cultural competence
- Serves as a patient / family advocate, incorporating respect for and acknowledgement of cultural diversity and individual patient needs
- Cooperates in the facilitation of departmental orientation and conducts a variety of in-service, orientation, and educational programs for vascular access staff and the infusion services team to meet competency requirements in accordance with departmental objectives and accreditation standards, including yet necessarily limited to: Initial and Ongoing Competencies; Core Curriculum; Required Certification Courses and Professional Development.
