- We are seeking a research specialist to join our team on an USDfunded grant examining links between above- and belowground diversity across space and time in forests of the continental United States.
- The primary work of the research specialist will be to design and implement protocols for bioinformatics analysis of fungal DNA these soils.
- Additional tasks will include direct control the project budget, hiring of subordinates, performance reviews, and management other staff members on the project as well as creating a searchable database of project data and sequences and occasional trips to the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) in Edgewater, Maryland, or Purdue University for project meetings.
- The research specialist will be based in the lab of Dr. Stephanie Kivlin at UTK ( Additionally, the research specialist will work collaboratively with the labs of Drs. Songlin Fei ( ), Rich Phillips ( ), John Parker ( ), Melissa McCormick ( ) and Grant Domke ( ).
- A PhD in ecology and evolution, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.
