- Sauk County is home to a vast array of lakes, rivers, and creeks with 22,000 acres of natural parks and open spaces that allow for 100 miles of biking, hiking, and walking.
- Provide immediate needs and long-range planning for adolescent health, cardiovascular disease risk reduction, chronic disease surveillance, communicable disease, day care health, disaster preparedness, environmental health, environmental human health hazards, home health care programs, immunization clinics, newborn home visit, prenatal care, public health nuisance, school health, well child clinic, and Women Infants and Children and Nurse Family Partnership and prevention programs.
- Act as County Health Officer with responsibility for communicable disease control and environmental health; direct communicable disease control measures; monitor communicable disease outbreaks; direct and monitor prevention measures and symptom recognition education; direct human health hazard prevention, detection, and cleanup activities.
- Act as Health Department Public Information Officer (PIO) in a public health emergency.
- Perform oversight of Public Health preparedness program and participate in local, regional, table - top and full-scale exercises for emergency preparedness.
