- New York State Education Department (NYSED) Guidelines for Professional Engineering Practice, Guideline 1: As a licensed professional engineer, you are required to practice within your authorized scope of practice, as defined in the Education Law, Commissioner's Regulations and Rules of the Board of Regents.
- The incumbent in this position will work under the direction of a Professional Engineer 2 (Civil/Transportation) or the Regional Construction Engineer (RCE) and will perform professional engineering duties related to all types of highway, structural, materials or geotechnical engineering inspection, administration or analysis.
- Specific assignments for this position may be made as an Engineer in Charge of a construction project, as an Area Construction Supervisor, as the Regional Technical Services Manager or the Assistant to the RCE.
- The incumbent in this position will work under the direction of a Professional Engineer 2 (Civil/Transportation) and will perform professional engineering duties related to all types of highway or structural engineering design, structural inspection, or structural analysis, including those of high degree of complexity.
- The incumbent in this position will work under the direction of a Professional Engineer 2 (Civil/Transportation) or the Regional Traffic Engineer (RTE) and will perform professional engineering duties, including those of high degree of complexity, related to all types of: traffic engineering and mobility; safety program management; transportation systems management and operations.
