- The McDonald Laboratory of Integrative Omics ( at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow.
- The ideal applicant has a PhD in genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, data science or genetics.
- Our lab is primarily a dry lab and has a major focus on studying and translating omics determinants of musculoskeletal health and pathology in diseases including COPD cachexia, osteoarthritis and muscle wasting in critical care.
- The post-doctoral fellow will apply methods of genome analysis to large-scale human datasets (genetics, transcriptomic, proteomics, metabolomics) and cell culture systems with the primary goal of identifying and characterizing genetic variants and molecular mechanisms that modify risk for musculoskeletal diseases.
- Large-scale data science projects will harness multi-omics data from National consortia including Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed), All of Us and the Million Veteran Program (MVP), as well as prospective studies of COPD cachexia and muscle wasting in critical care.
