REPORTS TO: Patrol Sergeant. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: <ul><li>Responds to all law enforcement related calls.</li><li>Ensures that all assigned equipment is in an operable condition.</li><li>Patrols assigned area.</li><li>Assists the public in any way which is police related.</li><li>Assists other officers as required.</li><li>Issues summons for traffic or City Ordinance violations.</li><li>Investigates suspicious activity.</li><li>Investigates traffic accidents.</li><li>Arrests, processes, and transports criminal suspects to appropriate detention facilities.</li><li>May be required to assist in other duties as assigned.</li></ul> KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: <ul><li>Knowledge of City, State and Federal laws.</li><li>Knowledge of operation and maintenance of law enforcement equipment.</li><li>Ability to acquire knowledge of principals, technical information and practices in the law enforcement field.</li><li>Ability to understand oral and written instructions and directions.</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain good cooperative relationship with fellow employees and the general public.</li><li>Ability to practice sound safety and work habits.</li></ul> QUALIFICATIONS: <ul><li>Satisfactory results of background and employment screening checks including physical exam, psychological evaluation, and drug screening.</li><li>Must be bondable.</li><li>Must complete the City Field Training Program.</li></ul> CERTIFICATES & LICENSES: <ul><li>Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Peace Officer license.</li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.</li><li>All required certifications and licenses must be current and valid.</li></ul> PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: <ul><li>Through regular exercise and moderate living, shall maintain a physical condition as to be able to handle strenuous physical contacts or demands required of the active, uniformed law enforcement officer.</li><li>All employees are subject to random drug testing.</li></ul> This job description is not an employment agreement or contract.
