- The Nurse Scientist is accountable for the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of innovative nursing research programs using scientific models, methods and concepts that support and promote the conduct of clinical research, research utilization, and professional development to improve organizational systems and health outcomes for those receiving nursing care.
- The Nurse Scientist assumes a complex leadership and consulting role as an expert to mentor nursing staff in the conduct, dissemination, integration, and application of research to improve professional nursing practice and patient care.
- S/he provides leadership in research programs related to complex healthcare issues that affect the hospital's mission, health care, and policy development.
- Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.
- Identifies current trends in clinical research, evidence-based practice and research utilization and knowledge needed by staff to remain current.
