- IU Health University’s Medical Progressive Care Unit is an ICU stepdown unit that provides hands on care for complex medical patients with cystic fibrosis, sickle cell, acute/end stage live failure along with a multitude of other co-morbidities.
- The Patient Care Intern I (PCI I) works under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) as a non-licensed team member.
- As a non-licensed team member, the PCI provides care to designated patients and supports the patient care team.
- Job duties include observation of the registered nurse, provision of activities of daily living, mobility assistance, mobility assistance, continuous observation including suicide prevention, and ensuring the patient's surroundings are clean and orderly.
- Requires PCI to be actively enrolled and have completed 1 semester student nursing clinicals at an accredited nursing education program that is accredited by a national organization.
