Marine Electrician III Purpose: <ul><li>Continental Tide has an immediate need for a Marine Electrician III who will be a key support to West Fleet Services Group. The location of this position is in Virginia Beach, VA.</li></ul> Job Description: <ul><li>The Marine Electrician will be responsible for supporting shipboard operations by leveraging practical shipboard experience with HM&E systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with shipboard electronic and electrical systems and equipment, as well as understand and interpret electrical schematics and installation drawings. Experience with NAVSEA cableway and connectorization is highly desirable, and certification in this area is a plus. Technical expertise with power generation and transmission equipment, as well as motorized valve actuators, is essential. Additionally, experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), fiber optics, and integrated network systems is preferred.</li></ul> Experience and Skills Requirements include: <ul><li>Ability to read, interpret, and understand simple schematics and blueprints.</li><li>7 to 10 years of direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment.</li><li>Repair and replace cables and connectors.</li><li>Work involves participating in the installation, maintenance of Combat Systems, PLCs, AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting and alarm circuits.</li><li>Troubleshoot, repair and install electronic and electronic equipment and cables.</li><li>Applicant must be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.</li><li>Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance and must be able to obtain DBIDS and be able to access local shipyards and US Navy bases.</li><li>Must possess basic hand tools.</li><li>Candidate must be able to walk, stand for long periods of time, sit, bend, stretch, reach, squat and twist.</li><li>Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.</li><li>Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.</li><li>Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.</li><li>Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.</li></ul> Preferred qualifications: <ul><li>Certified in "Multi-pin" Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A (SA) is a MUST.</li><li>Certified in Fiber Optic: CFOS/O, CFOS/C, CFOS/S, CFOS/T, CFOS/FC is a PLUS.</li><li>Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a marine electrician.</li><li>Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Item requirements.</li><li>Currently certified to accomplish wire way inspections in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items.</li><li>Microsoft Office knowledge is a plus.</li><li>Pulling and splicing wires.</li><li>Circuit Labeling.</li><li>Circuiting testing and troubleshooting.</li></ul> Security Requirements: <ul><li>Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations.</li><li>Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.</li></ul> Travel Requirements: <ul><li>Occasional Travel- up t0 10% within and outside of the continental United States.</li><li>If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
