- This position is assigned work at the journeyman level to install, repair and maintain a variety of pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures (water/sewer/steam/gas), including pipefitting and steam fitting districtwide.
- Maintenance Plumber/Pipefitter is distinguished from other maintenance positions in that specialized knowledge is required to perform the work assigned to maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.
- Essential Functions Assembles, installs, maintains, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Prepares work orders, time-keeping records, and reviews inventory documentation using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (SchoolDude) May assist workers on various projects.
- Ensures proper maintenance and use of hand and power tools, such as pipe threaders and cutters, electric sewer routers, ejector pump machines, augers, water jet sewer machines, gas leak detectors, acetylene welding torches, backflow testers, multi-meters, temperature sensors and various drills and dies and other plumbing and pipefitting equipment Ensures that there is an appropriate inventory of supplies and materials.
