As a Millwright or Pipefitter Maintenance Mechanic duties include, but are not restricted to, replacing valves & gaskets, basic welding, repacking pumps & valves, forklift operations, screwed pipe & tubing installations, cylinder repair, pump repair & replacement, repair of rotating assemblies, roll repair and replacements, motor replacements, and repair of mechanical drive systems.

Ability to Do the Work of a Pipefitter Without more than Normal Supervision. Operate all power and hand tools used in pipefitting, drainage cleaning systems such as pipe bending, threading, grooving, and cutting machines, pneumatic caulking hammers; drain cleaning machines (mechanical and kinetic), electric hand drills and electric saws.

Summary This position serves as a journey-level Pipefitter within the Facilities Management Service of the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System located in Omaha, NE. The primary functions include the installation, maintenance, repair, and remodeling of both new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment.

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter, OR full journey status as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter in a union, OR four years' applicable work experience.
