- The Mahaney Laboratory in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine studies the intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH)-induced post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH) and has demonstrated that elevated levels of hemoglobin and ferritin in the CSF of preterm neonates are associated with development of PHH and severe ventricular enlargement.
- We are seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 who has experience in both wet and dry lab research.
- Successful candidates are expected to perform or assist with stereotactic small animal surgery, medical imaging (e.g., MRI), microscopy (e.g., confocal imaging, SEM of brain tissues), neurobehavioral assays, biochemical experiments, and bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic and/or proteomic data.
- Perform experiments (e.g., 11.7T MRI, 3T MRI, neurobehavior tests, brain sectioning, SEM, ELISA, primary rodent cell cultures, ICC, IHC, confocal microscopy), maintain detailed records of experiments (related to animal surgeries, animal measurements, and behavior tests), analyze and interpret research data using GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, and MATLAB (60%)
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Neurobiology, Bioengineering, or related scientific field with four years of relevant research experience or Master’s degree in Biology discipline or Bioinformatics with two years of relevant research experience.
