- The Licensed Practical Nurse serves in Primary Care and responsible for routine nail care for low to moderate risk patients, but must be able to recognize high-risk patients that require podiatry consultation.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of Primary Care Nursing and an extension of the Podiatry Nursing team at the Charlotte HCC, works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and or physician with minimal supervision and is accountable to the Clinic Nurse Manager.
- He/she demonstrates self-direction, independence, and critical thinking skills in carrying out simple to the most complex practical nursing care assignments for variable patient populations.
- The LPN functions independently in the clinic setting, manages a nursing podiatry clinic and is responsible for patient flow under the more general supervision of the Podiatrist.
- This may involve ankle brachial indexes (ABI) or vascular studies are ordered by the Podiatrist.
