- GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Clinical Director, Behavioral Health Services, the social worker provides psychosocial services to patients and families of all ages with particular emphasis on the emotional and social issues resulting from illness, disability, and/or death.
- Assists in the development, planning, and facilitation of therapeutic and educational groups for patients/families.
- Provides clinical social work assessments and services (information, referrals, and counseling) to individuals and/or families within the Mercy Hospital and Medical Center system as well as the general community.
- Provides services to the patients/families in a professional manner in keeping with the philosophy and mission and principles stated in the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers.
- Provides consultation to the health care team regarding psychosocial management of patient problems or job-related stresses.
