- Serves as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer for the Division of Drug Enforcement and has the additional duty of taking on a full-time canine partner and performing canine functions.
- Canine handlers are stationed on an Indian reservation or group of reservations subject to the criminal jurisdiction of the United States, a tribe, or tribes, involving Indians and/or Indian property.
- Interdicts illegal narcotics and performs additional patrol and traffic control activities on Indian Reservations.
- Conducts preliminary investigations utilizing a canine and apprehends and takes into custody suspected violators associated with any crime which may have been committed.
- Conducts realistic drills/scenarios to properly train canine.
