- ABOUT THE POSITIONUnder direct supervision, the Investigative Technician I is a generalist non-sworn classification that performs a wide variety of law enforcement support tasks that do not require the exercise of peace officer powers of arrest or firearms.
- Incumbents are assigned to positions in the Sheriff’s Office or the District Attorney’s Office that require specialized training and work related to criminal investigations.
- Investigative Technicians within the District Attorney’s Office may open, investigate, and close criminal cases in conjunction with, as well as independent of, a District Attorney Investigator.
- Investigative Technician I: These employment standards are typically attained with completion of 20 semester or 30 quarter units in Criminology, Administration of Justice, Police Science, or a closely related field.
