- In this role, the intern has opportunities to learn hands-on how the Science Media Relations team promotes the research published in the organizations 14 peer-reviewed scientific journals and/or presented at the our 8 scientific meetings annually, and how the team collaborates with colleagues across the Marketing and Communications division, the Office of Science Operations, the Science and Medicine division, and throughout the organization.
- The intern will provide support to and collaborate with the science media relations team in the selection and production of promotion materials for top science published in the our peer-reviewed scientific journals and scientific meetings including learning how studies are selected for promotion; various strategies and tactics for pitching to media; handling media inquiries and expert interviews; and performing general duties to support the Science Media Relations team.
- The American Heart Associations Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.
- Individuals will obtain practical experience and receive hands-on training in various disciplines, to include volunteer recruitment/management, community event planning and management, public health research, community partner networking/connection, and program development/implementation.
