Responsible for the preparation and processing of semi-monthly payroll for the company which includes maintaining and/or updating necessary earnings, deductions, and taxes, reviewing timesheets, making necessary payroll edits, ensuring accuracy, processing corrections, validating and reconciling General Ledger. Follows payroll procedures and updates as needed and coordinates efforts with HR to ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and escalates issues if necessary. Performs other projects and duties as assigned. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities: •Data entry of changes / new hires / terminations •Coordinate time and attendance process with payroll including tracking vacation / sick / PTO balances with HR Coordinators •Period management of Time and Attendance system to include data entry, managing time process, system maintenance (employee and admin level) •Training for coordinators and supervisors on T&A system •Process and track garnishments and other deductions •Auditing / editing of reports •Actual processing of payroll 24 times per year •Process and distribute reports received from that processing period •Process / track 401(k) upload to SunTrust system - working closely with 401(k) advisors and consultants •Trouble shoot issues within the system itself as well as on supervisor level •Process bonus runs for incentive as needed •Process commission payments monthly •Assist with open enrollment process for welfare benefits •Communicating with all employees on payroll processes and procedures •Creating / interpreting reports for coordinators and management •Creating / conducting training for coordinators / employees on system processes •Create journal entries for payroll taxes / coordinate all tax processes with payroll provider •Tax inquiry research •Coordination of completion of surveys from OSHA, DOL, etc. •Determining best practices / processes to maximize use of system •System maintenance / upgrades •Handle year-end processes to include edits, W2's, address & SS# verification, etc. •Employee Termination payroll processing •Work closely with coordinator to ensure final payment to employee and termination of any loans, etc. •Work closely with Bancorp HR Generalist to coordinate termination of all welfare benefits •Employee Issues Relating to payroll - attendance, etc. •Must be familiar with and be able to communicate policy and procedures to coordinators and employees - working closely with all levels of management Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: •Should have a general knowledge of Workers Comp, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, •General knowledge of banking policies and procedures •HRCI certification as a PHR or SPHR is preferred. •Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. •Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. •Demonstrated ability to multi-task is required. •General knowledge of HR laws and best practices is required. •Strong organizational skills are required. Industry and Work Experience: •3+ years of experience in Payroll •Previous experience working in the assigned line of business and/or in banking is preferred. •Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws is preferred. Academic: •High school diploma or GED required •Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or another related field preferred.
