- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, or Life Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Zoology or Related Field) and four (4) years of experience writing and editing articles on medical/science topics for a university, a newspaper or other media organization, or similar institution.
- Reports and writes articles about faculty discoveries based on their published scientific findings; the growth and development of the institutional research enterprise; and the activities of the school of graduate studies in the health sciences.
- Interacts with members of the international science press to promote discoveries by UMMC faculty, including managing various distribution channels for institutional news releases and arranging interviews of faculty and senior leaders of the research enterprise.
- Serves as editor of a magazine published by the UMMC School of graduate studies in the health sciences.
