- Works to obtain required skills, training, and certifications necessary to perform duties of a Harbor Patrol Officer including rescue, law enforcement, firefighting, lifesaving, and medical response services; provides information and assistance to the general public.
- Ability to: Learn to maintain all Harbor Patrol related equipment; Learn operation of vessels and motor vehicles; Learn practices and procedures related to law enforcement, medical response, marine firefighting activity, lifeguarding, search and rescue, and boating; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Must also meet physical and psychological standards required to perform Harbor Patrol Officer duties.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Merchant Marine Officer's License (Master or OUPV).
