- As a member of the Public Works - Fleet Division, individuals in this level one position of our Fleet Mechanic (I) series are responsible for performing a wide array of preventative maintenance services for various town divisions, including Police, Streets, Utilities, Parks, and Recreation, specifically, inspecting, warranty work, lubricating and servicing light, medium, and heavy pickups, SUV's and police vehicles in a dedicated quick lube bays.
- The Fleet Mechanic I works under the direct supervision of the Fleet Manager to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects while working in the office and shop, for both routine and complex circumstances.
- Performs preventative maintenance services on all town Fleet units consisting of light-duty trucks and automobiles, turf and agricultural equipment, and small engine equipment in a timely manner.
- The Fleet Mechanic (I) position is part of the snow removal program which includes scheduled on-call responsibilities typically during the months of October to April.
- Certifications from major manufacturers such as International, Allison, CAT, John Deere, Bendix, Cummins, etc., may be considered in lieu of ASE if they are deemed equivalent.
