- The fire protection engineer in the Design and Engineering organization provides subject matter expertise in the following areas: fire protection, life safety, building and fire codes, fire hazard and risk assessment of materials and processes, fire and smoke spread, industrial fire hazards, fire investigation support, and other fire and life safety issues.
- Types of facility assets include a wide variety of facility and occupancy types, including public assembly, retail, storage, warehousing, high-rise hotel and office, residential, commercial cooking, dining, industrial, and special amusement buildings.
- Systems accountabilities include fire detection and alarm, automatic sprinkler, water-based fire protection systems including water supplies and fire pumps, smoke control and smoke management systems, means of egress, exiting, and emergency movement of people and crowds in public assembly, commercial cooking fire protection, special hazards fire protection systems, life safety systems, building automation and controls, and explosion protection.
- In addition, the position will require an individual that can operate in an environment of diverse general engineering knowledge in other areas such as codes, hazardous materials storage, use, and handling; gas alarm systems; elevator, conveyance, and ride safety; pyrotechnics; OSHA and general safety.
