- Reporting directly to the University’s Provost/Executive Vice President, this role serves as the Chief Executive Officer of CHHS with responsibility for setting the strategic direction and long-term vision of CHHS in alignment with its mission and goals.
- The CHHS works closely with the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law (Maryland Carey Law) to administer and teach several graduate programs in Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Law; offers an academic externship and employs students as research assistants each semester; and produces academic research and empirical case-studies in several fields.
- Specific areas in which it provides consulting services include community resilience, continuity of operations planning (COOP), exercise and training, health security, disaster recovery planning, and public safety technology.
- Over 90% of CHHS’s funding is derived from public and private entities that retain CHHS on a fee-for-service basis in its consulting activities, and from fees associated with it academic activities which includes a diverse catalog of courses in the Maryland Carey Law’s Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Law (LLM), Master of Science in Law (MSL), and Master of Professional Studies (MPS) programs.
- UMB remains Maryland's only public academic health, human services, and law center with six professional schools and a graduate school and enrolls over 7,100 students each year throughout their six nationally ranked professional schools—medicine, nursing dentistry, pharmacy, law, social work, and graduate studies.
