- The Department of Environmental Studies ( at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an Assistant (Tenure Track) or Associate Teaching Professor (Tenured) in Geographic Information Science (GIS).
- The candidate should be qualified to teach some of the advanced courses in the curriculum which focus on geospatial software development, web mapping, enterprise spatial databases, 3D systems, drones and aerial technologies, field-based surveying systems, remote sensing, and geospatial server infrastructure and management.
- We seek a candidate who can support teaching and research interests of the department in environmental policy and justice, conservation of natural resources, agroecology, climate change, and political ecology.
- Preferred qualifications include: (1) experience in developing geospatial solutions including custom application development, automated geoprocessing workflows, server-based services in an ESRI environment, and use of Python, R, SQL,
- ArcGIS, and open-source GIS software to develop scalable geospatial solutions; (2) understanding of web-based application development and be able to validate experience with front end web programming languages; (3) expertise in the design and deployment of back end components including ArcGIS Enterprise, enterprise databases, geospatial web services, and Windows Server administration; and (4) experience fundraising to support GIS facilities and research.
