- Proficient in all aspects of an Echo Lab, including all tests (i.e. 2D Echo/Doppler/Color Flow, Stress Echo, Contrast study, Dyssynchrony study) Perform two dimensional echocardiography, M-mode echocardiography, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler (including nonimaging probe), Color flow imaging and tissue Doppler, and echocardiographic quantitation according to the Echo Lab protocol.
- Needs to be proficient in all the techniques of digital echocardiography including digital recording, annotation, measurments, saving/copying/reviewing/deleting study.
- Take BP, place EKG leads and take EKG. Recognize major abnormalities and report to physician/NP. Recognize and report to cardiologist significant abnormal findings.
- Ultrasound technician training through previous on-the-job training or from accredited 1-2 year ultrasound program.
