- The Department of Radiation Oncology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is conducting a national search for Director of the Medical Physics Division at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
- The new director will lead the physics faculty for clinical and academic mission, working in collaboration with the Department Chair on the strategy and operational functions of the program.
- The Radiation Oncology Physics Division is responsible for innovation, education, high-quality clinical support in all aspects of medical physics, including but not limited to treatment planning, nationwide and institutional quality assurance (QA) initiatives, regulatory (federal, state, radiation safety, etc.)
- The department supports a wide variety of clinical and academic programs, including both CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics residency and ACGME-accredited Radiation Oncology Residency Programs, teaching and supervising graduate courses of Biomedical Engineering, and physics and cancer biology research as well as both investigator-initiated and cooperative group clinical trials.
- The director of the division will lead, support and enhance the academic efforts of the physics faculty, work to continually improve clinical care, and strive to make improvements in all aspects of the clinical and academic missions of the department.
