- The Deputy Chief of Police is an innovative and engaging leader responsible for managing State of Massachusetts certified police officers, dispatchers and other personnel within a Massachusetts Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (MACLEA) accredited department.
- The Deputy Chief of Police assists with managing critical incidents and events, liaises with local, state, and federal law enforcement, local fire departments, and emergency management agencies.
- The Deputy Chief of Police is expected to support the Chief of Police with responding to emergencies 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
- The Deputy Chief of Police has an active role in all policy decisions, including significant involvement with labor relations/collective bargaining, and will have access to and provide input regarding data collection and analysis for all collective bargaining proposals prior to their submission to the unions.
