- Knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education and demonstrated ability to effectively provide testing, psychological evaluation and counseling services.
- Valid CPR Certification as Issued by The American Red Cross or equivalent.
- Certified in the administration of safe restraint techniques by Handle with Care and CDT Personal Protection Training.
- Receive routine training for handling crisis events, including methods to deescalate crisis events, safe methods for implementing therapeutic hold techniques, restrictions on the use of prone restraint or seclusion techniques, and requirements following the use of prone restraint or seclusion techniques.
- Manage student behaviors, including developing, documenting, and implementing student behavior management plans with counseling team input, counseling students in crisis situations, working closely with School Psychologist and School Social Worker, maintaining student discipline, and following through with correspondence record-keeping relating to discipline.
